About

Michael E. Holden

Michael E. Holden has decades of successful producing and executive experience in wealth management. Acclaimed for his leadership style and achievements, he has also felt wrath and recrimination for his stance on authenticity. A belief that often runs counter to corporate doctrine depriving financial professionals of their uniqueness and relevancy. His direct involvement and extensive discussions with financial advisors, confirms a disconcerting pattern of behavior. He uncovered an ever-increasing authenticity deficit within the industry, igniting his resolve to bring this problem to light in hopes of reaching financial professionals who want something better for their practices.

Michael’s love and devotion to his wife, Rebecca, and their three children serve as constant reminders of the impact and importance the financial industry has on clients and their families—now and for generations to come. A lifelong learner, Michael received his executive MBA from Cornell University in Ithaca NY. He champions professional development with the goal of helping a select group of financial professionals separate and distance themselves from the masses.

“Authenticity is the percentage gap between what’s in it for me and how can I serve you.”
– Michael E. Holden

Why This Book? Why Now?

Michael explains, “In a world filled with confusion and hurt, there’s a need to address how we truly serve others, not just meet metrics. Authenticity isn’t just a buzzword; it’s foundational.” For Michael, authenticity begins with examining one’s motives in every aspect of life—be it as a financial advisor, spouse, or community member. His book introduces the concept of the “Authenticity Quotient” (AQ) as a measure of how genuinely we serve others.

A Personal Mission

For Michael, financial services are more than just a career. His own family faced financial hardship due to a lack of planning, driving him to help other families avoid similar pain. “I wanted to ensure what happened to us doesn’t happen to others,” he says. This personal experience fuels his passion for financial education and his advocacy for a standard of service grounded in empathy and integrity.

Beyond Finance: Serving Authentically in All Areas of Life

Michael’s message is universal. While his book focuses on financial advising, the principles of authenticity and service apply everywhere. He challenges readers to examine their roles in all areas—whether as professionals, family members, or community participants. His call to action? To bridge the authenticity gap, focusing less on “What’s in it for me?” and more on “How can I serve others?”
